The Illustrated Guide to Hot and Cold Water Services (BG 33/2014), written by Reginald Brown and published by BSRIA in 2014, it suggests that a quarter turn ball valve is: ‘Used as an isolation valve on pipework typically up to 50 mm nominal bore. Located prior to maintainable fittings and for isolating sections of the distribution system’
