Parker's Roman Cement
Durability Guaranteed - Pulhamite Rockwork - Its conservation and repair, published by Historic England in 2008, defines Parker’s Roman Cement as: ‘A quick-setting natural hydraulic cement – also called Roman Cement – made from septaria (calcined nodules of argillaceous limestone) from the Thames estuary, typically combined with sand at 1:1 or 1:2, and patented in 1796 by James Parker.’
