Technical paper 35: Moisture measurement in the historic environment, published by Historic Environment Scotland in 2021, defines a one-sided application as: ‘An implementation of an electromagnetic principle in which the transmitter and receiver are on the same side of a construction, operating on the principle of reflectance.’
