Straked tank
Containment systems for the prevention of pollution, Secondary, tertiary and other measures for industrial and commercial premises (CIRIA C736), published by CIRIA in 2014, defines strake/straked tank as: 'A section of a cylindrical tank. In a straked tank, strakes may be joined by welding or sealed to adjacent strakes with or without additional circumferential tension hoops.'
It defines a multi-straked tanks as: ‘Tanks formed with precast or prestressed reinforced concrete wall panels restrained with an external hoop (post-tensioned). This is a common form of construction used to create slurry stores and filter beds at wastewater treatment works.’
