Fixed external lighting
Approved Document L, Conservation of fuel and power, Volume 1: Dwellings, 2021 edition incorporating 2023 amendments, defines fixed external lighting as: ‘Lighting fixed to an external surface of the building and supplied from the occupier’s electrical system. It excludes lighting in common areas of blocks of flats and in other communal accessways.
