Factory engineered concrete
Offsite residential construction, Glossary of terms, published by Buildoffsite in 2018, suggests the term Factory Engineered Concrete (FEC): “Applies to pre-cast concrete elements of a structure. This includes wall and floor elements, ceilings, staircases, columns and beams. Also, FEC elements can include building service containment routes, window and door openings and possibly thermal insulation.’
Faster, Smarter, More Efficient: Building Skills for Offsite Construction, published by CITB in April 2017, defines factory engineered concrete as: ‘Pre-cast concrete elements – walls, floors, ceilings etc.’
