Cap plate
The 2018 International Residential Code (IRC), published by the International Code Council (ICC) defines a cap plate as: ‘The top plate of the double top plates used in structural insulated panel (SIP) construction. The cap plate is cut to match the panel thickness such that it overlaps the wood structural panel facing on both sides.’
