Thermal envelope
Approved Document F Volume 1, 2021 edition, defines the thermal envelope as: ‘The combination of thermal elements of a building which enclose a particular conditioned indoor space or groups of indoor spaces.’
This definition is repeated in Approved document L, Conservation of Fuel and Power, Volume 2: Buildings other than dwellings, 2021 edition incorporating 2023 amendments.
