FloodRe
Guidance on the code of practice for property flood resilience, published by CIRIA in 2021, defines a FloodRe as: ‘A UK-wide ‘reinsurance’ scheme launched in 2016 and lasting until 2039. This enables insurance companies to be insured against losses because of flooding. This will then permit home insurance to be widely available and affordable in areas at risk of flooding for the duration of the scheme.’
Flood Re is a joint initiative between the Government and insurers.
