Regionally Important Geological Site
Green infrastructure and open environments: The all London green grid. Supplementary planning guidance, published by the Mayor of London in March 2012, states that: ‘Regionally Important Geological Sites (RIGS) and Regionally Important Geomorphological Sites: ‘…are designated sites of local, regional, or national importance for geodiversity (geology and geomorphology). Planning policy for RIGS recognise that they have a fundamental role to play in meeting overall biodiversity targets, contributing to the quality of life and the well-being of the community, and supporting research and education.’
