Urban block
Bradford City Centre Design Guide, Supplementary Planning Document, published in 2006, defines an urban block as: ‘… an area bounded by streets and occupied by buildings. Sometimes called a perimeter block, the buildings face outwards onto the streets often with a private courtyard in the centre. For housing development this courtyard is often used by residents (sometimes for gardens) for shops it is where servicing takes place and for offices it is often an atrium.
