Mechanical supply and extract ventilation
Approved Document F Volume 1, 2021 edition, defines mechanical supply and extract ventilation as: ‘Any mechanically driven ventilation that both continuously supplies outdoor air to the inside of the building and continuously extracts indoor air and discharges it to the outside. This includes decentralised supply and extract ventilation, and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR, a mechanical supply and extract ventilation system that includes a heat recovery mechanism).
