Instantaneous electrically heated
Approved document L, Conservation of Fuel and Power, Volume 2: Buildings other than dwellings, 2021 edition incorporating 2023 amendments, defines instantaneous electrically heated as: ‘A domestic hot water system in which the water is supplied to the draw-off points from a device in which cold water is heated by an electric element or elements as it flows through the water heater. The water heater is close to the draw-off points. The unit has no storage volume, as water is instantaneously heated as it flows through the device.’
