Cloud feedback
Climate Change 2021 – The Physical Science Basis, Annex VII: Glossary, written by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and published by Cambridge University Press in 2023, defines cloud feedback as: ‘A climate feedback involving changes in any of the properties of clouds as a response to a change in the local or global surface temperature. Understanding cloud feedbacks and determining their magnitude and sign requires an understanding of how a change in climate may affect the spectrum of cloud types, the cloud fraction and height, the radiative properties of clouds, and finally the Earth’s radiation budget.’
