Barring-off

Safety in the storage and handling of steel and other metal stock, second edition, published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in 2016, defines barring-off as a: ‘Historical term for the use of levers (eg metal bars) to physically lever product off a delivery vehicle.’
