Energy balancing
The Energy White Paper, Powering our Net Zero Future (CP 337), published in December 2020 by HM Government, defines energy balancing as: ‘Matching supply with demand, which is important to keep the gas and electricity systems within safe operating limits. For electricity this needs to be done on a second-by-second basis.’
It defines balancing services / the balancing market as: ‘The tools and markets that are used to make sure it is possible to match supply with demand.’
