Background ventilation
Part O 2021 (England), Technical Guidance, July 2022 – Final Draft, published on the Future Homes Hub, defines background ventilation as: ‘low level ventilation rate provided 24/7 (as required by Part F) to prevent homes becoming stuffy and reduce risk of mould growth. Usually provided via MVHR systems or trickle vents. Background ventilation is not usually sufficient to mitigate overheating risk in warmer weather.’
