Whisk-broom scanner
Earth observation and aerial surveys, RICS professional standard, 6th edition, September 2021, published on 4 January 2022 by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), defines a whisk-broom scanner as: ‘Use of a rotating mirror to scan across the satellite’s track or orbit, reflecting the energy emitted from the Earth’s surface on to a single detector. The imagery is built up one pixel at a time. Whisk-broom scanners are also known as cross-track scanners.’
