Staircasing
Valuation of land for affordable housing 2nd edition, April 2016, published by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in 2016, defines staircasing as: ‘…the process of purchasing additional shares of a shared ownership property. Depending on the terms of the shared ownership lease, there may be restrictions on the timing and amount of staircasing.’
