Smoke barrier
The Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB part of BRE Global) sets the standards needed to ensure that fire and security products and services perform effectively. LPCB’s Loss Prevention Standards (LPS) are applied in fire and security sectors around the world.
Loss Prevention Standard, LPS 1056: Issue 6.2, Requirements for the LPCB approval and listing of fire doorsets, lift landing doors and shutters, Published by BRE Global Ltd in 2014, defines a smoke barrier (active) as: ‘A doorset or shutter assembly to meet the requirements of prEN12101-1 “Smoke and heat control systems. Part 1:Specification for smoke barriers”, which may or may not be fire resisting, which prevents the free spread of smoke.'
