Site rules for construction sites
Managing health and safety in construction, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Guidance on Regulations suggests that site rules should cover, but not be limited to, topics such as:
- Personal protective equipment.
- Parking.
- Use of radios and mobile phones.
- Smoking.
- Restricted areas.
- Hot works.
- Emergency arrangements.
Site rules should be clear and easily understandable and should be brought to the attention of everyone on site that is expected to follow them. They might be communicated during site inductions, and details of site rules should be included in the construction phase plan.
It might be necessary to have translations of the site rules available.
NB Some requirements may be attached to the planning permission for a development, and set out in a code of construction practice.
