Significant adverse impact on use

Water for life and livelihoods, River basin management plans, Glossary, Published by the Environment Agency in 2016, states: ‘Used in artificial and heavily modified water bodies, a SAIOU (Significant Adverse Impact On Use) is a reason for not implementing a measure to mitigate the impact of a physical modification associated with a designated use of that water body.’
