Safeguarding zone
The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government in 2021, defined a safeguarding zone as: ‘An area defined in Circular 01/03: Safeguarding aerodromes, technical sites and military explosives storage areas, to which specific safeguarding provisions apply.’
This definition was repeated in the revised NPPF in 2024.
For more information see: Safeguarding land.
