Roles in construction projects: analysis and terminology, by Hughes, W. and Murdoch, J. R, published in 2001 by the University of Reading, defines purchaser as: ‘A synonym for client, used to emphasize that the client is the recipient of goods and/or services within a commercial relationship.’
RICS Valuation – Global Standards, Effective from 31 January 2022, Published by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in November 2021, defines a special purchaser as: ‘A particular buyer for whom a particular asset has a special value because of advantages arising from its ownership that would not be available to other buyers in a market.’
