Proxemics
PAS 6463:2022, Design for the mind – Neurodiversity and the built environment – Guide, published by BSI Standards Limited 2022, defines proxemics as: ‘human use of space and the effects that population density has on behaviour, communication and social interaction… Proxemics is one among several subcategories in the study of non-verbal communication, including haptics (touch), kinesics (body movement), vocalics (paralanguage) and chronemics (structure of time).’
