Non-plastic soil
High Speed Rail (Crewe – Manchester) Environmental Statement, Glossary, abbreviations and references, published by the Department for Transport in 2022, defines a non-plastic soil as: ‘A soil with coarse textures, i.e. sands and loamy sands, which do not exhibit plasticity (i.e. the ability of a soil to be deformed beyond the point where it cannot recover its original shape) at any moisture content.’
