High Speed Rail (Crewe – Manchester) Environmental Statement, Glossary, abbreviations and references, published by the Department for Transport in 2022, defines the National Forest Inventory as: ‘A record of the size and distribution of forests and woodlands in Great Britain and information on key forest attributes run by the Forestry Commission.’
