Law of partial pressures
Assessing risks in insulation retrofits using hygrothermal software tools, Heat and moisture transport in internally insulated stone walls, by Joseph Little, Calina Ferraro and Beñat Arregi, published by Historic Environment Scotland in 2015, describes the law of partial pressures as: ‘A scientific principle which states that in a gas mixture (such as air) the partial pressures of each component are independent of each other and that the total pressure equals the sum of the partial vapour pressures. This is also called Dalton’s Law of Partial Pressures.’
