Hydraulic bound layer
High Speed Rail (Crewe – Manchester) Environmental Statement, Glossary, abbreviations and references, published by the Department for Transport in 2022, defines the hydraulic bound layer as: ‘Soil type materials (granular or cohesive) improved by the addition of various cementitious/asphaltic materials. It can be produced in-situ or elsewhere, and is used in constructing slab track.’
