First principle estimating
Cost prediction, Professional Statement, 1st edition, published in November 2020 by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), defines first principle estimating as a: ‘The method of preparing a cost estimate by calculating the monetary rate, labour hours and rates of productivity required to complete each of the individual tasks within the desired breakdown structure.’
