Capacity market
The Energy White Paper, Powering our Net Zero Future (CP 337), published in December 2020 by HM Government, defines the capacity market as: ‘..our primary policy mechanism for delivering security of electricity supply. It provides generators and flexibility providers with a payment for firm (reliable) capacity to ensure they deliver electricity generation or demand reduction, when required.’
