Leptospirosis
Leptospirosis is: ‘A bacterial disease passed from animals (most commonly rats) to humans via infected urine. An acute form of leptospirosis in humans is known as Weil’s desease.’

Symptoms are typically similar to flu at the outset – muscle cramps, nausea, headaches – but can cause jaundice, kidney failure, meningitis, and in some cases can be fatal.
