G AND A HARVIE was founded by Gregor and Alex Harvie. They met working on the creation of the Millennium Dome where they contributed to the content of ten installations. Since then they have delivered numerous internationally-respected creative projects as well as developing their own art.
Gregor is a qualified architect with a doctorate in environmental design and a post graduate diploma in fine art. Between 1996 and 2000 Gregor worked on the creation of the Millennium Dome, where he collaborated with Richard Rogers, Artangel and lighting designer Tanya Burns on the design of the Rest Zone. Gregor was Director of Earth Day at the Dome, attended by 30,000 people and part of the world's biggest ever environmental celebration. Between 2005 and 2008, Gregor worked with the University of Southampton, managing a team of consultants to develop a strategic masterplan for the University's 200-acre estate. He is currently part of the Designing Buildings team.
Alex read English at Oxford University and went on to become a content editor for creative projects. She set up her own writing and publishing consultancy in 2001, working with organisations such as the Patent Office, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Royal Institute of British Architects. Alex was commissioned by the Department of Culture Media and Sport to write ‘September 11 Memorial Garden’, a book for families of British victims of 9/11. Before that she was Managing Editor of ‘Splendour of Iran’ and Series Editor for Cambridge University Press.
