Energy Performance Ratio for New Constructions
BREEAM UK New Construction, Non-domestic Buildings (United Kingdom), Technical Manual, SD5078: BREEAM UK New Construction 2018 3.0, published by BRE Global Limited, defines the Energy Performance Ratio for New Constructions (EPR_{NC}) as:
‘…a metric that is unique to BREEAM and calculated by the BREEAM Ene 01 Calculator within the BREEAM Assessment Scoring and Reporting tool, using modelled outputs from the approved building energy calculation software. It is a ratio that defines the performance of a BREEAM-assessed building in terms of its regulated operational heating and cooling energy demand, primary energy consumption and CO-eq emissions. This measure of performance is used to determine the number of Ene 01 credits a building achieves in the BREEAM assessment.’
A description of how the EPR_{NC} is defined and calculated is summarised in Energy performance on page 132 of SD5078, and outlined in greater detail in a Guidance Note available from the BREEAM website https://www.breeam.com/.
