Synthetic aperture radar
Earth observation and aerial surveys, RICS professional standard, 6th edition, September 2021, published on 4 January 2022 by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), defines synthetic aperture radar (SAR) as: ‘An active microwave remote sensing technology that measures the phase difference between a radar wave emitted from an antenna attached to a satellite or an aircraft and its received echo from the terrain to generate high-resolution images of the surface.’
