Technical paper 35: Moisture measurement in the historic environment, published by Historic Environment Scotland in 2021, defines radar (RAdio Detection And Ranging) as: ‘A system for detecting the presence and distance of sub-surface features based on electromagnetic waves reflected from boundaries between materials with different physical properties.’
