Priority substances
Water for life and livelihoods, River basin management plans, Glossary, Published by the Environment Agency in 2016, defines priority substances as: ‘A pollutant, or group of pollutants, presenting a significant risk to or via the aquatic environment that has been identified at Community level under Article 16 of the Water Framework Directive. They include ‘priority hazardous substances’.
