Mineral Consultation Area
The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government in 2021, defines a Mineral Consultation Area as: ‘a geographical area based on a Mineral Safeguarding Area, where the district or borough council should consult the Mineral Planning Authority for any proposals for non-minerals development.’
This definition was repeated in the revised NPPF in 2024.
