Material utilisation (MUT)

Material utilisation (MUT) is the amount of a structure's capacity that is 'used up'. It can refer to the material's strength, stiffness, durability, and so on.

It is normally given in % terms, so something that is working very hard might have a MUT ratio of 95%. Typically, structural elements might be designed to 65-85% MUT.
