MS Project in construction
Construction project tasks are measured in terms of physical value and measures and are scheduled based on performance, resource consumption and other parameters specific to construction industry.
Microsoft Project is a tool for project management, but it lacks some of the features necessary to handle construction project tasks in native way. It is possible to add functionality with an MS Project add-in like Construction Project (CP).
Construction Project adds a construction-specific environment to support construction-specific projects.
C-Tasks allow the user to assign full physical volumes to MS Project tasks, calculate multiple costs based on resources assigned, set contractors, manage task duration from a productivity point of view and play with other construction-specific parameters.
In addition, there are F-Tasks which are used to manage payments and design payment schedules based on C-Task progress. P-Tasks are designed to handle procurement of goods and services needed for C-Task to perform effectively.
The CP-Reporting engine helps to analyse construction project data in customisable MS Excel Pivot Tables and Power BI reports.
