Hierarchy
The glossary of statistical terms, published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), defines a hierarchy as: ‘…the classification structure where a classification is arranged in levels of detail from the broadest to the most detailed level. Each level of the classification is defined in terms of the categories at the next lower level of the classification.’
