Green infrastructure and open environments: London’s foundations: protecting the geodiversity of the capital, Supplementary Planning Guidance, published by the Mayor of London in March 2012, defines a fold as: ‘A bend in planar structures such as rock strata or bedding planes.’
It defines a fold axis as: ‘A line which lies parallel to the hinge line and marks the intersection of the axial plane with the hinge zone.’
