Containment systems for the prevention of pollution, Secondary, tertiary and other measures for industrial and commercial premises (CIRIA C736), published by CIRIA in 2014 defines an acid as: ‘A chemical substance that, in aqueous solution undergoes dissociation with the formation of hydrogen ions. An acidic solution has a pH of below 7.0.’
