Network switch
Guide to Controls (BG 83/2023) written by John Marrow and published by BSRIA in June 2023, defines states: ‘A network switch works in a similar way to a router but has further intelligence. This allows it to contain data traffic within a network subgroup, hence reducing data traffic on the whole network, but it can forward data to any destination device when required. In complex BMSs, network switches would be commonly located to isolate and separate data communications between sub-networks or zones. Typically, a zone could be a complete building or a floor of offices.’
