LonTalk

Guide to Controls (BG 83/2023) written by John Marrow and published by BSRIA in June 2023, defines LonTalk as: ‘An open control protocol in which all devices contain a chip, enabling them to communicate with one another.’

It states: 'Developed by the Echelon corporation, this protocol is an open protocol which operates on a specific type of communications network. A device using this protocol must contain a neuron chip which has a unique serial address number manufactured by Motorola and licenced by Echelon. Manufacturers’ devices which use the technology must
contain a neuron chip which can communicate using the standard.'
