Building control authority
The Explanatory Notes to the Draft Building Safety Bill, published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government on 20 July 2020, defines ‘Building control authority’ as: ‘A generic name used for local authorities and the Building Safety Regulator in situations where either may be responsible for Building Act matters or checking compliance with Building Regulations’ requirements.’
