A continuous professional career extending more than 50 years in the construction industry with extensive and varied design and project management gained abroad in Europe, Middle-East, Scandinavia and East Africa and in the UK. Languages: English, French and also Swahili
Early career experience included civil engineering whilst working for the original global organisation of Acrow Engineers in the post of Chief Designer of its Formwork Division and as an executive of its Exports Division which involved extensive global construction experience on some notable international projects including the iconic Kuwait Water Towers, the concrete ski-jump hill for the winter Olympics at Lahti Finland, the deep harbour port of Mombasa, a new sports stadium in Tehran and a few bridges, tunnels and dams around the world.
Middle career experience included working in professional consultancy practice for several multi-disciplinary firms and architects practices including Hunter + Partners, Pentar Architects and GMW Partnership working within the project teams on some major landmark commercial projects including 54 Lombard Street, and Minster Court.
Public service experience commenced in social housing management as Chief Development Surveyor of a registered Housing Association in London managing the construction team and consultants. Career in local government progressed to an appointment as Principal Building Surveyor in a London Local Authority.
One of the first construction professionals to qualify and practice as a Planning Supervisor and later appointed to that role in a local authority. Then moved to manage the busy professional team of the Planned Maintenance division and Capital Works of the London Borough of Bromley and also appointed to manage health & safety and CDM for Resources Directorate at Bromley.
A CDM professional dutyholder from the start of CDM with petro-chemical plant experience and ATEX knowledge. Led on researching and developing CDM2007 for UK local authority and public services which developed into the creation of the award-winning on-line modular CDM training system developed by Bromley Council that trained and accredited over 17,000 in-house Local Authority officers across the UK. Holder of Registered Trademark for CDM Competence Registration [Class 35] since 2018.
Previous public service appointments: Chief Surveyor at Merton Council; Planning Supervisor and Head of CDM at London Borough of Hillingdon; Manager of Planned Maintenance and Capital Works Professional Team at London Borough of Bromley
Current appointment: Subject Matter Expert relating to the Building Safety Act 2022 and BS Flex 8670 Framework and creation of the PAS 8671/2/3 Register Trilogy™
