Skytree Scientific was founded on May 22, 2024, by Christopher Bean, Thomas Tay, James Grasty, and Jerri Lynn Reeves. The founders brought expertise from the fields of lightning protection engineering, technology product development, and cloud software architecture.
In January 2025, the company announced a strategic investment and partnership with HBM.ai to enhance the accuracy and scalability of its AI-driven lightning risk solutions.1 Later in 2025, it was selected to participate in the Global Insurance Accelerator (GIA) program, reflecting its relevance to insurers evaluating infrastructure and climate-related risks.2
