Some 40-50% of the United Kingdoms national consumption of primary energy is used for building services, such as heating, lighting and electricity.
Governments and enterprise around the world are commited to reducing carbon emissions to 1990 levels (Kyoto Protocol 1997). Because of this there is a large scope for improvements to existing and future building stock to have sustainable services installed.
In the United Kingdom we have a great history for innovation, but
often these novel ideas don't come to fruition because they sometimes lack funding, support and the chance to showcase themselves.
I am proposing a scheme which would enable individuals to trial their sustainable innovations in practice and have the chance to interact with buildings and their occupants for a period of time. If an innova
tion is of perticular interest and proves to be succesfull it could be supported for future development in partnership with Development Securities Plc.
