Tri-generation
BG 34/2021, The Illustrated Guide to Renewable Technologies, 2nd edition, written by Michelle Agha-Hossein and David Bleicher and published by BSRIA in 2021, states: ‘The use of tri-generation can greatly improve the usefulness and cost effectiveness of a CHP unit. Tri-generation involves the use of waste heat to generate chilled water via an absorption chiller, for process cooling, comfort cooling and air conditioning applications. This allows the recovered heat for the CHP prime mover to be used all year round: space heating and domestic hot water in the winter, and space cooling along with domestic hot water in the summer.’
